The old Jewish Center’s outdoor swimming complex was an adventure, with its sprawling main pool featuring two standard and one high diving board, a separate regulation Olympic racing pool, and a large fenced children’s pool. There also was a shuffleboard court, a basketball court, and a snack bar nestled at the bottom of a set of concrete steps where us kids would buy pretzel sticks for a nickel and eat them with mustard.
